Replacing ink cartridges for printers can become costly over time, especially if a lot of printing is done. Numerous companies have manufactured ink refill kits to help consumers cut down of the cost of printing documents. These kits are relatively inexpensive, allow the consumer to refill their printer cartridge more than once, and are a lot easier to use than most people think. The HP PSC 1610 V uses HP ink 94 and 95.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ink refill kit compatible with HP ink cartridges 94 & 95
  • Gloves
  • Paper Towels
  • Newspaper
  • Black Electrical Tape
  1. Step 1

Remove the HP label from the top of the ink cartridge. This will be a sticker on top of the cartridge containing the number of the cartridge. Set this aside.

  2. Step 2

Prepare your area for clean up. Place paper towels or an old newspaper on your work surface area. Next, remove the disposable gloves that came with the ink refill kit. Place a glove on each hand. This will help to prevent ink staining your hands during the refill and cleanup process.

  3. Step 3

Assemble the syringe. Take the needle that came in the ink refill kit and connect this firmly to the small opening on top of the syringe. Remove the cap from the color of ink you wish to refill, and press the syringe into the ink pulling the plunger back to draw ink into the syringe. Fill plunger 1/2 to 3/4 of the way full.

  4. Step 4

Place the needle into one of the small holes refill holes that are exposed on the cartridge. Slowly inject up to 20 ml of ink into the cartridge until full. If ink starts to come out of the printer head or the other refill holes, stop filling. Pull back on the syringe to remove a small amount of the ink from the cartridge.

  5. Step 5

Place original HP sticker over the refill holes. If cartridge appears to be leaking, take a piece of black electrical tape and place a small piece over the original sticker, pressing firmly to secure any open areas over the refill holes.

  6. Step 6

Replace the cartridge in the printer and print a test page. You may need to print one or two sheets before the ink begins to print correctly. Once you have determined the cartridge is working properly, remove gloves and clean up work area.

  7. Step 7

Repeat the above steps when filling color ink cartridges. Be sure to use the correct color in the refill hole. You will be able to tell which color goes where after you remove the sticker on the cartridge. Be sure to rinse the syringe between each color refill.

Tips & Warnings
  • After refilling a cartridge, the computer may still send you a message saying the ink level is low. This is because ink levels are determined based on the amount of printing that has been done. If you get this message and your pages are printing normal, ignore it until you notice that the printer is running out of ink.
