1
Begin by cutting a length of ribbon that's at least 12 inches. If you want to create a bow that has multiple figure 8's, cut a length of ribbon that's at least 24 inches. Set up your hot glue gun so it's ready to use when attaching the loops of the bow together.
-
2
Hold the ribbon in the middle with your right hand between your thumb and index fingers. With your left hand, take one side of the ribbon and hold it at least two inches from the center. You should leave enough ribbon at the botton to create a tail.

To create the first loop, take the piece of ribbon that's in your left hand and cross it with the piece that's in your right hand. Hold the ribbon in your right hand. You should now have a loop. With your left hand, move the remaining ribbon underneath the loop. Secure it with your right thumb. This will create the figure 8 shape.

4
Continue to create loops until you have the desired effect. Take the tails and push them down toward the center of the bow. Make sure the figure 8 shapes are held firmly by your right thumb.
-
5
Use your glue gun to attach the loops together in the center. Place one drop on each corner and press firmly. Allow the glue to dry. Use a needle and thread to secure the loops permanately. Make three stitches in the center using thread that's similar in color to the bow. To attach the hair clip or barrette, apply a few drops of glue on the back of the bow. Attach the clip and allow to dry.
