Use Peroxide to Lighten Hair

Using peroxide to lighten your hair is a classic way to get the natural-looking highlights you crave. Peroxide will work well lightening your hair to give it color and dimension, without stripping your hair with harsher chemicals like bleach would in a salon. The natural light of the sun will also help to guide the lightening process along.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Fill a spray bottle halfway full with peroxide.

  2. Step 2

Pour in water until the spray bottle is full.

  3. Step 3

Shake gently to mix the solution.

  4. Step 4

Spray the peroxide solution onto a comb.

  5. Step 5

Brush comb into towel-dried hair after showering.

Tips & Warnings
  • For best results, spray onto hair before going into the sun. The sun will help the lightening process.
  • For stronger results, use a stronger peroxide solution than 50/50 peroxide water.
  • Do not over peroxide your hair. If you notice a lot of breakage, consider using hot oil and conditioning treatments to correct the health of your hair.
