  1. Step 1

    Use the internet to compare product features. Consider Yahoo Shopping as a starting point. Research as much information about the two cameras as possible.

    Check features for each camera. Both the Kodak M853 & C743 camera are similar in several key areas. For example, the zoom, shutter speed and image format are the same. Both are equiped with the same self-timer, white-balance setting, and movie mode. However, the M853 is an 8.2 megapixel camera, the C743 is a 7.1 megapixel camera. Also, the M853 has a more sophisticated aperture range and ISO and exposure setting. The 853 also has a minimum focal range and macro setting, as well as, accepts an additional media type.

  3. Step 3

    Review appearance and layout. The M853 is the most modern looking of the two. The M853 has a sleeker appearance. Shorter, thinner and lighter, it will easily to fit inside a shirt pocket.

  4. Step 4

    Check the price. With all the added features of the M853, one would expect it to be more expensive than the C743. However, this is not the case. The M853 is less expensive, coming in at roughly $120 to $150 dollars retail. This is far less than the $200 price tag of the C743.

  5. Step 5

    Do your homework! Visit a local Best Buy, Circuit City or local electronics shop in your area. Consider the weight and feel of both cameras.
