Instructions

    • 1

Wrap the fabric around your waist. Place the end of the garment on your left hip, with the right side facing out. Wrap the garment around your waist, to the right. Wrap completely around your waist for a snug, yet comfortable fit.

    • 2

Make a knot to hold the material. Tie a knot under your belly button using the fabric edge. After the knot is securely in place, straighten the material and then bring flatly to your left hip.

    • 3

Make your first set of pleats. Take the material and make a series of pleats to the right of the knot. Depending on your waist measurements, this may require anywhere from seven to ten knots.

    • 4

Wrap the pallu. Take the end (known as "the pallu"), and wrap it around the center of your back. Pleat the remaining fabric. The number of pleats will vary according to the measurement. Tuck in the back, from hip to hip.

    • 5

Finish wrapping the Sari to look like a pair of pants. Take the bottom of the fabric bordering the pleats, and bring the fabric up between your legs. Tuck it in the back of your waist. Secure this with a knot or tuck in securely.
