If you're sick of having low cards when playing poker, then Manila Poker is the game for you. In this game you won't have a card lower than a 7 in your hand. Manila Poker even allows players that love playing for a flush to beat an opponent's full house when it comes to the showdown. Manila Poker is an entertaining game that tends to have higher ranking poker hands than traditional hold em variations.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Gather your friends together for your home poker night. Manila Poker is a game that you can play with a very large number of players. The ideal number of players for a home game of Manila Poker is between 6 and 9 players.

  2. Step 2

Remove all the cards from the deck with a face value of 2 to 6, and have each player ante into the pot.

  3. Step 3

Deal 2 face down cards to each player. After everyone has received these hole cards, each player may view their own hole cards.

  4. Step 4

Start the first round of wagering. This round starts with the player sitting to the left of the dealer.

  5. Step 5

Deal 3 face up cards to the center of the table. These cards are known as "The Flop." Instruct each player that there will be 5 cards total in the center of the table, but they must use 3 community cards and both their hole cards to form their final poker hand.

  6. Step 6

Conduct the second round of wagering. This round is began by the player sitting two seats to the left of the dealer.

  7. Step 7

Flip over a fourth face up card in the center of the table. This card is known as "The Turn."

  8. Step 8

Conduct the fourth wagering round of the game, with the player sitting four seats to the left of the dealer starting the wagering.

  9. Step 9

Flip over the final community card, known as "The River," and conduct the fifth and final wagering round. This fifth wagering round is began by the player sitting five seats to the left of the dealer.

  10. Step 10

Reveal the cards and declare hands. Each player now reveals his or her cards and declares his or her poker hand. The player with the best poker hand wins the entire pot.

Tips & Warnings
  • In Manila Poker, flushes rank above a full house. This is due to the fact that with the lower number of cards in the deck, flushes are harder to acquire than with a standard deck.
  • Aces in Manila Poker can not be used as the low card in a straight.
  • Don't fall in love with your high cards. Remember that everyone else has high cards as well. High pair in Manila Poker is rarely a winning hand.
