How to Change the Desktop Time Zone on a Computer

It is possible for you to change the desktop time zone on your computer. You may want to do this if you travel to a place that has a different time zone than your own or if you just want to set your clock to another time zone for business purposes. This option to change your time zone on your desktop clock is available anytime your computer is on. You can change back and forth with different time zones as many times as you like.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click once on the “Start” menu button which is located on the taskbar.

  2. Step 2

    Find the “Control Panel.” Click once on it. The “Control Panel” window will pop up.

  3. Step 3

    Click twice on the “Date and Time” icon. The “Date and Time Properties” window will pop up. You will see three tabs. One tab will have the words “Date & Time” on it. The second tab will have the words “Time Zone” on it. The other tab will have the words “Internet Time” on it.

  4. Step 4

    Click on the “Time Zone” tab. You will see a wide narrow rectangle with a time zone inside of it. This rectangle will have a down arrow attached to it on the right side.

  5. Step 5

    Click once on the down arrow. You will see a list of different time zones. Use the up and down arrows to scroll up or down to the time zone you wish to have the clock on your desktop set by.

  6. Step 6

    Click once on the time zone of your choice. This time zone will appear in the wide narrow rectangle under “Time Zone.”

  7. Step 7

    Click the “Apply” button at the bottom on the right side of the “Time Zone” tab.

  8. Step 8

    Click OK. Close the “Control Panel” window. The correct time in the time zone you chose will automatically appear on your taskbar.
