How to Ungroup Layers in Paint Shop Pro Photo XI

Graphical design programs have enabled many designers to create state-of-the-art images, logos and graphic files at relative ease. This is because the newer versions of such programs offer an easy-to-use interface and plenty of features. One commonly used feature is that of using layers within images, grouping the layers and even ungrouping them. Here's how use this feature.

      Open the image with grouped layers. You will need to scroll to the “File” tab and select “Open” to access the image that has grouped layers. Once the image file with the layer groups is open, you can ungroup the layers as desired.

      Ungroup the layers using the layer palette. To ungroup the layers using the layer palette to the right, simply right-click on the desired layer group; a submenu will open. Select “Ungroup Layers” and it will ungroup the layers within that group.

      Ungroup the layers using the “Layers” tab. To ungroup layers using the “Layers” tab, first left-click on the layer group in the layer palette that you wish to ungroup. Then scroll to the “Layers” tab on the command bar and select “Ungroup.”

      Save image in preferred file format. Make sure to save your master image by scrolling to the “File” tab on the command bar and selecting “Save As.” Then save it in the desired image format.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can group or ungroup as many layers as you like, it is recommended that you label all groups of layers to better keep track of them.

  • Make sure to save your image in the PSP (Paint Shop Pro Photo XI) format, before saving it to another format, otherwise it will merge all layers into one image.
