How to Apply for Federal Music Grants

      Go to the National Endowment for the Arts website and decide which type of grant you want to apply for. To do this visit http://www.nea.gov/index.html click on grants then select music.

      Choose the grant or grants you wish to apply for and read through the introduction and deadline information as well as the grants process and eligibility information. Notice each grant will have different eligibility requirements, make sure you meet those requirements before you continue with the process.

      Register with grants.gov, you will need a current email address in order to register with grants.gov. If you have already registered with grants.gov check to see if your account is still active as you may need to renew your registration.

      Download the application package for the grant or grants you have chosen. Complete the package by filling out the application, submitting your work samples and reviewing the application checklist.

      Submit your completed application package by the deadline. Missing the deadline can make you ineligible to receive the grants or at worst drastically reduce your chance of receiving the grant.

      Monitor the status of your application and complete any other necessary steps if you are chosen as a grant recipient.
