Adobe Premiere Pro is a video editing software program used by both amateurs and professionals. It can be used alone, or in combination with other programs like Adobe Photoshop. Premiere Pro allows you to import video from a source such as a video camera, edit the video, then export it to your medium of choice. One of the interesting features of Premier Pro is the option to use title templates when editing your video. The templates included with Premiere Pro contain numerous themes and layouts that make it easy to design titles for your projects. You can also make your own templates or modify existing ones. Here are a few tips to help you use templates in Premiere Pro.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  1. Step 1

Open Premiere Pro and select "File," "New" and then "Title" to open the Title Designer. Alternatively, you can press "F9" on your keyboard.

  2. Step 2

To open an existing template, select "File," then "New Title" and then "Based on Template." In the template window, select the desired template then click "OK."

  3. Step 3

Select “Import File as Template” to import an existing file. Browse to the file, then click "Open." Enter a new name for the template, then click "OK" to save it.

  4. Step 4

Select the "Text Tool" to add text. Click the desired area in the text box and enter your title. When you've finished entering your text, select the "Move Tool" to reposition the title. Right-click the title and select "Align" for more precise positioning.

  5. Step 5

To change the font color and style, select the "Object Style" menu to the right of the window to apply your choices. To rename a template, choose "Rename Template," type a name in the text box, then click "OK." To delete a template, choose "Delete Template" then click "Yes" when prompted.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can save title templates in different formats. For example, if you use Photoshop to design the title, save it as a PSD file.
  • Bold, heavier fonts work best for video titles. Fine fonts are harder to read and sometimes appear to flicker on the screen.
  • Each system or computer you work on must include all of the fonts and images that you used in the template.
