How to Make Blue Construction Paper Look Like Water

  • Dark blue construction paper

  • Light blue construction paper

  • Scissors

  • White card stock

  • Blue glitter glue

  • Clear glitter

You can make realistic waves from different shades of blue paper.

By overlapping different shades of blue paper in a specific way, you can make the waves look like they are rippling as they natural do in the oceans.

Step 1

Cut across the top of an 8-inch by 10-inch sheet of dark blue construction paper in a wave formation. Cut across the entire length in this manner. Discard the top portion of the paper.

Glue the paper onto a sheet of card stock.

Cut across the middle of an 8-inch by 10-inch sheet of light blue construction paper in a wave formation. Cut across the entire length in this manner. Discard the top portion of the paper.

Step 4

Glue the light blue paper on top of the darker blue paper. Line up the bottom edges so that the dark blue paper peeks out from behind the light blue paper. This will make the waves look more realistic.

Step 5

Trace around the edges of the waves using blue glitter glue.

Step 6

Sprinkle clear glitter over the wet glitter glue, then allow the glue to dry completely.

Step 7

Shake off the excess glitter.
