Capital One is one of the most popular credit card issuers in the United States. We’re all familiar with their inventive television commercials and catchy slogan. Provided that you have a decent credit rating, it is very easy to get a Capital One card. Just follow this quick and easy guide and you’ll have a credit card in your wallet before you know it.

  • Decent credit history
  • Internet access

    Visit the official Capital One website. Use the Capital One website to quickly and easily submit your card application.

    Click, “Credit Cards”.

    Review the available Capital One credit card options. Review each card type, along with the associated annual fee and interest rate. Pick the card that best meets your needs. Click “Apply Now”.

    Fill out the information on the application. Complete all required fields, as marked by an asterisk (*). You may skip non-required fields. However, the more information you provide, the easier it is for Capital One to determine eligibility. After you have completed the form, click “Continue”.

    Review the information that you provided. If any changes are required, click, “Make Changes”. Otherwise, scroll to the bottom of the screen and then click, “Continue”.

    Read the disclosure of information regarding how your credit account is managed. This is particularly important in terms of the interest rates and fees, which vary on a sliding scale. Print the page for your records. Scroll to the bottom of the page and then click, “Submit Application”.

    Wait for you application to be processed. This may take a minute. Do not hit back or reload while the information is being processed. After a moment, you will be directed to a screen where you will either obtain instant approval for your Capital One card, or receive a message explaining that a card could not be issued.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your Capital One card application is turned down, you can still get a Capital One Prepaid or Debit card to help you build credit. Re-apply at a later date.
