Blackheads are incredibly common on the nose. The entire T-zone of the face, defined as the T-shaped area of the forehead, nose and chin, tends to produce more oil than other areas of the face, thereby increasing the chances of blackheads there. You can take some steps to get rid of blackheads on your nose as well as discourage new blackheads from forming there.

From Quick Guide: Blackheads Basics
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Salicylic acid
  • Dermatologist
  • Facial
  • Water
  • Sleep
  • Balanced diet
  • Facial scrub
  • Mask
  • Cleanser
  1. Step 1

Apply a blackhead treatment cream to your nose. Make sure the cream contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide as these ingredients unclog pores, thereby helping to clear away blackheads. You may find that your skin is sensitive to such creams initially. Begin by applying the treatment cream every other day until your skin gets accustomed to it. These creams are available over-the-counter in a variety of different brands.

  2. Step 2

Visit a dermatologist if you have chronic blackhead issues. A dermatologist can prescribe more serious topical treatment creams that can help get rid of blackheads over time. If you have acne problems as well, you may need a prescription oral medication.

  3. Step 3

Get a professional facial. Estheticians are trained to remove blackheads and perform a variety of other procedures, such as scrubs, masks and steaming, that discourage new blackheads from forming. Part of a facial appointment involves extractions. The esthetician will use her hands or special tools to extract blackheads and pimples from your skin. You should never attempt to do this yourself as you will likely damage your skin.

  4. Step 4

Drink lots of water. Water not only hydrates your skin from inside but it also helps to flush away excess oil and debris that may be clogging your pores. You should try to consume at least 64 ounces of water every day. Carry a water bottle around with you to remind yourself to sip it regularly.

  5. Step 5

Get adequate rest. If you are not maintaining a regular, proper sleep schedule, it is putting stress on your skin. Stressed skin often experiences more blackheads and breakouts. Try to get about eight hours of sleep each night and observe the difference it makes to your overall skin health.

  6. Step 6

Eat your vitamins. A well-balanced diet is essential to proper skin health. Make sure you are getting plenty of vitamins and nutrients from the foods you choose. While you can take a multi-vitamin, it's better to get your nutrients from real food. Avoid processed foods and opt instead for fresh fruits and vegetables.

  7. Step 7

Exfoliate. Use a facial scrub to exfoliate your skin twice a week. Exfoliation will remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, therefore helping to unclog your pores. Since clogged pores lead to blackheads, this step is essential to preventing new ones from forming.

  8. Step 8

Remove excess oil by using a deep-cleaning facial mask once a week. These masks help to pull impurities from the skin and achieve moisture balance. Choose a mask that is made specifically to treat blackheads and problem skin.

  9. Step 9

Clean your skin. Never go to bed with makeup or the day's debris on your face. Use a gentle cleanser every night without fail.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try pore strips, which can pull blackheads out from your skin, particularly on your nose. While there is some controversy over their effectiveness, some people find great success using them.
  • Avoid oil-based products as these can exacerbate blackheads.
