Arrange a Wedding Bouquet

Your wedding is in the planning stages and you want to make it special. You can make your own, using a unique wedding bouquet with an heirloom Bible or book of poetry. Perhaps you have the New Testament that your great grandfather had in World War II or the Bible your mother carried in your parents' wedding. You can arrange a wonderful wedding bouquet with a treasured book and beautiful flowers. If you use fresh flowers, you can dry the arrangement to place in a display container. If you use silk flowers, you can display it or use it as a Christmas decoration.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather supplies. Measure Bible or family heirloom book.

    • 2

Cut a piece of lace or satin to make a strip around the book to protect the cover. Sew the band or covering together at the back of the book. You can choose to cover the entire book.

    • 3

Cut silk flower stems down to 4- or 5-inch pieces. Cut, wire and floral wrap fresh flowers if using them.

    • 4

Put flowers together and floral tape them in place.

    • 5

Continue placing and taping flowers. The floral piece will look like an oversized corsage.

    • 6

Cut a 20-inch-long piece of ribbon. Knot it in the middle. Set aside. Take 2 feet of ribbon and make a 16-loop bow. Tie the 20- inch ribbon around the bow center.

    • 7

Cut a second 20-inch piece of ribbon. Take the 20-inch piece of ribbon and wrap it around the book from top to bottom. Tie it underneath the book.

    • 8

Lay the floral piece on the top of the book covering the tied-on ribbon piece. Set the bow over the center of the floral piece. Wrap the bow 'tails' around the floral piece, tie to the center of the tied ribbon and knot tightly. Take the tails and pull ends around and under the book. Tie to the ribbon under the back to secure the floral piece to the book. If the piece moves at all, use another piece of ribbon to secure it.

Tips & Warnings

  • The ribbon can be cut and the wedding bouquet will slip off the book.
