Things You'll Need:

  • Budget
  1. Step 1

Find out who wants to go on a Disney cruise. Will this be a family event? A cruise for couples? A reunion cruise? Whoever wants to go on a Disney cruise needs to speak now or you will run the chance of not being able to cruise together.

  2. Step 2

Decide what destinations you are interested in cruising to. There are some amazing ports of call for Disney cruises including: Castaway Cay (Disney's own port of call available only to cruisers), Nassau, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. John, Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, St. Croix, Tortola and special Mexican ports available on a limited basis.

  3. Step 3

Decide how long you want to cruise for. You can choose three night, four night, five night, seven night or a 15 night cruise. The better deals are available on the longer cruises.

  4. Step 4

Pick a few dates that you are available to take a cruise. Make certain that you can get the time off from work and that any other cruisers are available as well to take time off from work.

  5. Step 5

Choose a stateroom that best meets the needs of you and your family. There are various sizes of staterooms in all price ranges and sizes. Depending on which stateroom you choose will also determine where you are located on the ship.

  6. Step 6

Choose which time you would like to be seated for dinner. There are two seatings available that you can choose from when planning your cruise.

  7. Step 7

Arrange air and ground transportation as well. You can choose a cruise with airfare and ground transfers to get you to and from the ship.

  8. Step 8

Make any special requests at this time. If you need a crib for your room or a highchair, let your cruise agent know. If you are celebrating any birthdays or anniversary's, let them know this as well.

  9. Step 9

Consider purchasing the Disney Cruise Vacations Protection Plan. This plan provides baggage coverage in case your bags are lost. Trip cancellation/interruption is also part of the plan which can come in handy for an emergencies that arise making you unable to take you cruise. This plan also includes medical coverage on your trip.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is always a good idea to purchase cruise insurance in case you are not able to make the trip for some reason.
  • There are several options available once you have decided on the particular cruise that you are interested in. You can reserve the cruise by putting down a deposit or paying for it in full. You can also save the itinerary to book at a later date but your reservation will not be guaranteed until you at least put down a deposit.
  • Holidays and summer are the most popular times to go on cruises. Winter is the cheapest time to go on a Disney cruise.
  • Read the contract closely that you sign for any cruise as it is legally binding.
  • You may save money by booking your airfare separately.
