How to Clean Plastic From an Oven Floor
Step1
Clean the plastic while it is still warm, soft and pliable. If it is "runny", leave to cool and harden. Pull the oven racks from the oven.
Step2
Using a scraper or plastic spatula, scrape the melted plastic from the floor of the oven. If the plastic has hardened and is difficult to remove, turn the oven to about 100 to 150 degrees. Let it heat for three to four minutes. Scrape off the heated plastic.
Step3
Use a warm, damp cloth to wipe off any remaining residue. For more stubborn residue, scrub away with a dampened Brillo soap pad and then wipe with a damp cloth.
Step4
Turn the oven to the "broiler" setting. (Make sure there is nothing inside.) Leave on for 30 minutes to an hour to rid the room of any odor.
How To Clean Plastic From an Oven Rack
Step1
Let the oven racks cool down to a bearable temperature, and then peel off as much of the hardened plastic as possible. Depending on the type of plastic, you may be able to remove it completely.
Step2
Place the oven racks back into the oven. (This is done if there is still plastic left on the rack.) The melted plastic has likely hardened, so soften by heating the oven to about 100 to 150 degrees. Let heat stand for three to four minutes.
Step3
Use the plastic spatula to scrape plastic from the rungs of each rack. Wipe away any remaining residue with a warm, damp cloth. For more stubborn residue, scrub with a dampened Brillo soap pad. Move the pad up and down each rung.
Step4
Wash the oven rack. Remember to place it back inside the oven.
