Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • access to a computer with internet
  • wage and employment info on everyone in your household
  • information about checking and savings accounts of everyone in your household as well as other assets you possess
  • information concerning bills you have to pay including rent/mortgage payment, utility payments and insurance payments
  • about an hour of time
  1. Step 1

Compile information for the household and complete a food stamp application. Include information about: employment and wage history, checking and savings account balance and transaction history (as well as other equity). Also, include monthly expenses, such as utility and insurance payments.

  2. Step 2

Go online to www.myflorida.com/accessflorida. Click, "Apply for Food Stamps, Temporary Cash Assistance or Medicaid". You will be given an access code and password. Write this information down, as it is the only way to gain access to your account/profile.

  3. Step 3

Follow the directions of the application. You will be asked for the name of the applicant, as well as, household information concerning how each member of the household is related. The application will request information about who is working, how much money is brought into the household, a list of assets belonging to each person, as well as, a list of the monthly payments that must be paid.

  4. Step 4

Be honest on your application. The State of Florida will verify the application. If you are found to be deceitful, you will be denied and potentially face a large fine.

  5. Step 5

Complete the application. When you submit the application online, you will receive an email confirmation. Keep the access code and password available. It is your way of entering the website to update information, as well as, check the status of your application. The process usually takes anywhere from fifteen to thirty days to determine eligibility. You may be contacted for additional information.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have a computer at home, you can access one at a library. Or, check your local unemployment office. If you discover you have not gathered all the information needed to fill out the entire application, sign out of the application. Sign back on using your access code and password when you are ready. Do not stay on the website more than a few minutes without activity. You will be timed out of the site and it will take some time before the state allows you to return.
