How to Connect DIRECTV Receiver Model H20 to TiVo
You've just purchased a bunch of fancy new toys to go with your expensive television, and now you have no idea how to connect them to each other. Hooking up one would be easy, but making them all work together at the same time is another story entirely. By following a few simple steps, you can connect your DirecTV receiver Model H20 to your TiVo.
Things You'll Need
- DirecTV receiver model H20
- TiVo
- S-video cable

1
Purchase an IR blaster. They cost between $12 and $15, and are necessary if you want your TiVo to be able to control your DirecTV box.
-
2
Locate the S-video and component output jacks on the back of your television. One of your devices (either the DirecTV or the Tivo) will need to be hooked up to the S-video output, and the other to the component output. Which one goes where doesn't matter.

3
Set up the remotes for each of your devices. You will need to follow the instructions in their respective manuals. Both remotes will need to control their respective units for the remainder of the steps.
-
4
Connect the IR blaster to your DirecTV box. Using your TiVo remote, program in the code for that model. This will allow you to have control over the DirecTV box using your TiVo remote. You can now control both your TiVo and the DirecTV receiver using the same remote control.
