Real mayonnaise can be used to add luster and vitality to dry hair. Using it as a conditioner will also increase the shine value and it is simple to use. The best part is that mayonnaise is a kitchen staple so it is easy to always have on hand.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Real mayonnaise
  • Wide tooth comb
  1. Step 1

Wash your hair normally with a gentle shampoo formulated for dry hair. Towel dry your hair.

  2. Step 2

Starting at the top of your head, gently comb in at least one tablespoon or more of real mayonnaise. Make sure to cover every strand of hair. The longer your hair, the more mayonnaise you'll need.

  3. Step 3

Leave the mayonnaise in your hair for at least one hour. Extra dry hair may need an additional hour to show improvement.

  4. Step 4

Wash your hair again with a gentle shampoo such as baby shampoo. Rinse thoroughly. Comb or brush your hair and let dry. Style as you normally would.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can condition your hair with mayonnaise as often as needed.
  • In a pinch, white, creamy salad dressing can be used instead of mayonnaise Be aware that it contains lemon juice and may lighten your hair if you spend much time in the sun.
  • Many people claim that homemade mayonnaise works better than store bought. Make blender mayonnaise by combining 1 egg yoke, 1/2 tsp. mustard, 1 tsp. white vinegar and a pinch of salt and pepper. Blend these ingredients together on the slowest blender setting and slowly add approximately 3 ounces of olive or other vegetable oil.
