Yoga's Primary Purpose Is To Align The Chakra of The Body

Setu Bandha Sarvangasana in Full Spectrum Yoga is loosely translated from Hindi as "Bridge" or "Half Wheel Pose." This pose strengthens the legs and hips, and massages the spine. Yoga in its original form is a path to spiritual enlightenment and union with the Supreme Consciousness. This system of beliefs and practices is closely tied with the Hindu religion and is found almost exclusively in India. The rest of the world knows Yoga as a series of postures, known as asanas, designed to enhance flexibility and physical health. The goal of Full Spectrum Yoga is more Westernized and fitness oriented than Hindu Yoga. It is primarily meant to put the practitioner through a wide array of posses, utilizing and exercising the body’s full range of motion. A secondary benefit is the meditative trancelike state which many people experience when going through the asanas, found to be very relaxing by most.

Instructions

    • 1

Lie on your mat, flat on your back. Raise your knees and place your feet flat on the mat as well.

    • 2

Push off with the feet to raise the pelvis and lower back. Slowly press down to raise yourself up as high as you can. Place your upper arms flat on the ground by your sides, but keep your arms below the elbow pointed up into the air. Press down with elbows to raise the shoulders and upper back.

    • 3

Concentrate on breathing slowly and begin to walk your feet in toward you to give you the traction you would need to raise your hips up higher. Clasp your hands behind your back, pressed against the mat. With this done, roll your shoulders back to decrease the amount of your upper body touching the mat.

    • 4

Breath slowly in this position for a minute and then unclasp your hands, pull your shoulders out, and lower your pelvis and torso to the ground to rest, having completed this pose.

Tips & Warnings

  • Originally there were 6 forms of Yoga which supposedly granted different benefits such as mental clarity, physical health and spiritual peace. Full Spectrum Yoga incorporates a wide range of different types of poses, taking a little from each of the original 6 forms. It is believed by some that mastery of Yoga allows the Chakras or nexuses of energy throughout the body to align, granting physical immortality.
