How to Stop Being Shy
If you're naturally an introvert, this doesn't mean you have to spend your life watching more outgoing people have fun while you stay at home and sulk. While being shy may be inherent to your personality, you can do things that make you appear less shy. This can be just the trick to making new friends or getting dates.

Make an effort to meet people. You won't meet anyone if you stay secluded in your home. You don't have to approach anyone if you don't want to or if big crowds make you nervous.

Start out by going to coffeehouses or bookstores. These are generally quiet places where people gather and can be less intimidating than a nightclub or loud party.

Strike up conversations. This may be easier if you first try this with people you know well instead of total strangers. Try talking to a coworker that you see every day. Over time, starting conversations may begin to feel like second nature.

Ask your friends and family to introduce you to new people. Other people who know you well should be able to determine the types of people you'd feel comfortable with.

Think about subjects that interest you and that you know well. You'll be more comfortable talking about topics that are familiar to you.

Practice talking to a trusted friend or family member first. You can role play until you feel less nervous about speaking to new people.

Try to approach someone who's standing alone if you attend a party and you begin to feel uncomfortable. She might be shy as well and has been waiting for someone to come up to her. It will probably feel easier for you to have a one-on-one conversation than trying to engage several people at once.

An introvert would not sulk about being alone; he or she would rejoice in it. There is a big difference between a satisfied introvert who enjoys alone time and a shy extrovert who is frustrated.

Yea, baby steps. I coudn't ever walk up to a person, But, I hang around with my friend, and usually she will meet one of her other friends for awhile and I tag along. I still have yet to talk when I do that but makes me see what ppl talk about and how interactions occur, and really, it helps.

Its weird because I'm not afraid of coming up to someone who looks my age and talking 2 them. Its when I have 2 get up and dancer or sing in front of people Even my family or friends.

if people who made this aren't shy, then they don't understand what it's like. Just going up and talking to someone isn't easy for a shy person, thats why their shy. Being afraid to talk to people! That's why we're shy so that won't help to stop it... sorry!
