- Teacher's Manual
- Manipulatives
- Normal School Supplies

Step 1
Take some time to review your homeschool books. Make sure you have all of the pieces for each subject such as a textbook, workbook, teacher's manual and manipulatives packet. In order to teach your children to the best of your ability, you need to have all of your resources together in one place.
-
Step 2
Read your teacher's manual and plan your lessons accordingly. The teacher's manual was written by teachers and is set up the way it is for a reason. You are free to add information or worksheets to your homeschool books, but you should first complete the assignments as they are written in your teacher's manual. It is recommended that you take a week in the summer to review the teacher's manuals and get an idea of what you are going to be doing and what extra things you might need to purchase.

Step 3
Each school day, open up to the corresponding day in the teacher's manual. It will tell you which text pages to cover for the day and which worktext pages your child will need to complete. The worktext pages can be done in class or for homework. The teacher's manual will also give you a list of any items you need or manipulatives you should use for teaching that lesson.
-
Step 4
Go over the objectives for the day and make sure your child has grasped the concepts that were taught. If the child didn't the previous day, you should stay on that lesson the next day before continuing to the next day in your teacher's manual. If your child flew through the material, move on to the next day's assignments. Homeschooling allows you to go at your child's pace.

Step 5
Complete 180 days of work. If your textbook is finished before those 180 days, use the remaining days to go back over all that your child has learned for the year. Another option is to use the homeschool books chapter subjects to have your child write a paper. If your child doesn't finish all of the lessons in the book by the end of the 180 days, you have two options. You can continue to homeschool in the summer, sort of like summer school, or you can just forget about the other pages. Up to fourth grade, it is not important to finish every lesson is a book. This is because the material learned is the same each year, and it just adds a little more detail each year. The later years, especially high school, should all be finished.
