How to Apply Makeup to Hide Scarring

Hide Scarring with Makeup
-
1
Buy concealer and foundation specifically designed to conceal scarring. Regular brand cover-ups are typically not strong enough to fully cover any thick or dark scars. You can find highly-pigmented foundations at beauty supply stores or online.

2
Make sure the scarred area you wish to cover is clean and dry. Wash it with a mild soap and gently pat dry. Apply a skin primer or even eye cream on the scar to moisturize the skin and prep it for the cover-up. A primer will also help the cover-up stay on longer.

3
Take a small dime-sized amount of the concealer cream into your palm and roll it around with your fingers to heat it, and smooth out any globs.
-
4
Place a bit of the cream onto the scar you want to hide. Gently pat the foundation onto the scar using your fingertips. Do not rub the cream into your skin because you might end up rubbing off all the makeup. Continue patting the cream on until the scar is completely hidden to your liking. Feel free to use more cream if you need to.
-
5
Set the cream with loose or pressed powder. Lightly press or dust the powder onto the covered area and blend a little outward to cover the surrounding areas as well.
