Things You'll Need:
- Flea bath for pet (if necessary)
- Vacuum
- Borax
- Plastic bags
-
Step 1
If there is a pet present in the house, it is important to give the pet a flea bath or to bring the pet to a vet or professional for a flea bath.
-
Step 2
If there is a serious infestation, remove all linens, such as sheets, blankets and pillow-cases, and wash in warm or hot water. Use the dryer to dry wet linens.
-
Step 3
Remove all decorative pillows, stuffed animals, and any other objects made of fabric. Place these in a plastic bag and tightly seal shut. Allow these to sit in the bag for at least a week. Any fleas attached to these items will die while in the plastic bag. Vacuum all items when removing them from the bag.
-
Step 4
Sprinkle borax on all of the rugs and on the furniture made of fabric such as couches and chairs. Leave the borax on for at least 1 hour. Return and vacuum all of the rugs and the furniture removing the borax.
