Step 1
Be prepared! Put together an Earthquake kit. Your survival kit should include:
* Flashlights
* Batteries
* Battery powered radio
* Bottled water
* Food items that won't spoil: Tuna, Granola Bars, Power Bars
* Blankets
* First Aid Kit -
Step 2
At Home: When the Earthquake starts do not panic and run out of your house or building. This is how most people get injured. If you are near a heavy piece of furniture get under it! If you are not around anything you can take cover under stand in a doorway or in the middle of the room.
Stay away from the windows. Windows are the first thing to break under pressure. -
Step 3
At the office: Do not panic and run out of the building. Get under a piece of sturdy furniture or walk to the middle of the room. If your walking down a hallway when an Earthquake strikes stay to the middle of the isle and protect your head from any falling debris.
-
Step 4
In the Car: Usually when your driving you won't feel an Earthquake unless it's a big one. If you do feel it pull off to the side of the road slowly if you can. Cover your head and protect your eyes from breaking glass.

on 8/2/2008 Good advice. I especially like the idea of an Earthquake kit. I don't live where earthquakes are a problem, but certainly this is important for many.
