Walmart has everyday low prices. Everybody knows that. But did you know you could be saving loads more money at Walmart by price matching. Price matching means if a local store is having a sale on something that Walmart will match give you that same price for the same item if you ask them. That means you can get most of the sale prices at 10 different places all at one store. What a money and time saver!

Instructions

    • 1

Gather your sale flyers and find the best deals. Make a list of the deals you want noting item, price and store. For example:

      Romaine lettuce, $0.49/lb, Safeway
      Cheerios 8oz., $1.00, Albertson's
      Aquafresh toothpaste, $1.50, CVS

      Know Walmart's price matching policies.
      a. Meat and produce has to have the exact wording in order to get a price match. And be aware that your cashier may well need to call a manager over to successfully price match it.

      b. "Buy One Get One Free" sales are not honored unless the ad also states the price (such as 2/$5.00).

      c. Walmart will not price match a percentage off - for example, all L'oreal products 30% off.

Research your particular store as some policies vary from store to store. Ask at Customer Service if they:
      • match specials that require a customer loyalty card.
      • they honor competitor's coupons.
      * match store brand to store brand.

    • 4

Go to your Walmart with the sale flyers. Most stores require them.

    • 5

Gather your products in your cart and bring them to the front. Ask the supervisor which cashier would be best for price matching. Every cashier should be able to do it but that's in an ideal world. If you find the best cashier, it will make everything run smoother.

If you have items that are not to be price matched place them on the belt first. Place your items to be price matched together last on the conveyor belt. As the cashier takes each item to be price matched tell him/her the price of each item. Sometimes the cashier will ask from which store the price was taken. Your list will come in handy for this. Be prepared to hand over the pertinent ad to the cashier.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have a problem price matching, offer to call Walmart's corporate offices (at 1-800-WALMART) to find out the right thing to do while you are standing there at the register in the middle of your transaction. This will be the method to get the most positive outcome.
