Tune a Guitar using a Piano

Here is how you would use a Piano to tune your guitar.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Guitar
  • Piano
  1. Step 1

The highest guitar string, is the E above middle C, not the E an octave and a third above middle C, as it is written. Find your middle C then go up the piano (to the right) alphabetically to the E. Play the E on the piano and then the E on your guitar till they sound the same.

Looking at the picture, the middle C is the white key locate just to the left of the two black keys.

  2. Step 2

The next is your B. Go down the piano (to the left) past middle C to the B. You will need to do the alphabet backwards, i.e., E, D, C, B.

  3. Step 3

Next one is G. Go down the piano (to the left) till you reach G. B, A, G.

  4. Step 4

The next one is D. Go down the piano (to the left) till you reach D. Do the alphabet backwards. F, E, D.

  5. Step 5

The next one is A. Go down the piano (to the left) till you find A. Do the alphabet backwards. C, B, A.

  6. Step 6

And the last one is E. Go down the piano (to the left) till you find E. Do the alphabet backwards. G, F, E

Tips & Warnings
  • The alphabet starts all over again after G.
