Tune a Violin using a Piano

Here is how you would use a piano to tune your violin.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • piano
  • violin
  1. Step 1

Using middle C on the piano as your guide, we will start with the Bass G for the first string on the violin. The G on the piano will be located 3 notes down (to the left) of the middle C. On the violin the G is the string on the far left.

  2. Step 2

Next note is the D which is right after middle C on the piano. On the violin the D is the 2nd string from the left.

  3. Step 3

Next note is A, which is 4 up (to the right) of D on the piano. On the violin the A is the 3rd string from the left.

  4. Step 4

The last note is E, which is 4 up (to the right) of D on the piano and on the violin the E is the 4th string from the left (or far right string).

Tips & Warnings
  • The violin strings are played open.
