How to Make Prosperity Incense

How to Make Prosperity Incense thumbnail
When making your own incense cones are the easiest to fashion.

Incense, like candles, is part of an ancient tradition that allows it to be used in magic and religious ceremonies. In ancient temples incense was used to purify the atmosphere, calm the senses and focus the mind. In ancient homes and stores incense was often burned to encourage prosperity. The smoke was seen as symbolically carrying the wish for money to the gods.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather your tools and ingredients. You will need your incense ingredients: (cinnamon, grated nutmeg, grated orange rind, star anise, essential orange oil and frankincense). You will also need a measuring device-spoons, a cup or scale, (depending on the quantity you intend to make), a mortar and pestle (for when your herbs/resins/flowers are not already in a finely powdered form) and a hammer and metal mortar, should you have to crush a stone ingredient. Gather some small bowls, plates or containers for the powdered ingredients, a large wooden or ceramic mixing bowl to blend your ingredients and an airtight container for storing your finished incense.

    • 2

Grind. Whatever incense recipes you have decided to use, the ingredients will most likely need to be powdered. Usually you need to grind the ingredients individually.

    • 3

Mix all your incense ingredients, adding them one at a time to the large bowl. When you add each ingredient use your fingers to mix while visualizing the intended outcome.

    • 4

Add a few drops of orange oil. You won't need very much--just a few drops to dampen the mixture. If you're making a large amount of incense you can add a couple of extra of drops.

    • 5

Store the incense. Put the finished product in an airtight container and label it with its name and date. Store it in a cool dark place.

    • 6

Burn benzoin. If you don't have all the materials to make the prosperity incense then a simple but effective incense for prosperity and purification can be made by using benzoin, a balsamic resin. Mix benzoin, basil and cinnamon and form the mixture into cones. Traditionally, this incense is used to attract customers to a business
