How to Remove Paint From Walls
Removing paint can be a harrowing job. It is a fairly messy job, as old paint can fly everywhere. To remove paint from walls, you should block out a weekend afternoon for your efforts and gather all your supplies.
Things You'll Need
- Drop sheets
- Water
- Gloves
- Face respirator
- Safety glasses
- Electrical tape
- Utility knife
- Paint scraper
- Trisodium Phosphate powder
- Bucket
- Trash bag

Lay down the drop sheets around the room at the wall's edge. This will catch the water and debris that may come loose.

Put on your gloves, face respirator and safety glasses. Be sure to have all of these on for safety reasons. You likely will create a lot of dust and debris from removing the paint.

Turn off the electricity if you are working around outlets. Cover the outlets with tape so no water gets into them.

Mist an area of the wall with water before you start to scrape off the paint. The mist will soften each area of the paint. Use the utility knife to score the edge of the area to be scraped.

Use your scraper to pry off the paint. Sand off any residual paint that might remain.

Bathe the area you cleaned with one tablespoon of Trisodium Phosphate powder and combine it with one gallon of water to take away any dust. This will also clean the walls of any remaining paint chips

Put all the drop sheets and scraped paint into a trash bag and dispose of them.
