How to Crack a Safe
Lots of people have an academic interest in safecracking. And people sometimes go years without accessing their safe, then forget the combination to it. If you need access to the contents of your safe and don't have the key or the combination, you may be able to crack the safe.

1
Determine whether you want to preserve the contents of the safe. Sure, you can open any safe anywhere if you have a bunch of explosives, but the paperwork you locked inside will not survive the procedure.
-
2
Try to guess the combination. Popular selections include birthdays and anniversary dates.

3
Use a brute-force method. Take a sledgehammer and start beating the safe. If you pound it hard enough, it will crack open.
-
4
Experiment with the combination. Combination locks require that you move the dial completely around twice to get to the first number, then move the dial completely around to the left once for the second number, then go straight to the third number. But with many safes, you can be one or two numbers off and the safe will still open.

5
Persevere until you get into the safe. Safecracking is supposed to be frustrating at first. After all, a person purchases a safe in hopes no one will be able to get into it without the combination. Your fingers need to become accustomed to the minute clues the dial gives you. Your ears need to become attuned to the tiny differences in the clicks, and this will take time.
