Women often find themselves with too much makeup in their makeup kit. This is supposed to be the minimal kit that you carry around with you in case of emergencies or touch ups. Cut down on the extras and stick to the essentials.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Foundation
  • Concealer
  • Powder
  • Eyebrow pencil
  • Eyeliner
  • Eyeshadow
  • Blush
  • Lip Pencil
  • Lipstick
  • Mascara
  1. Step 1

Get a great medium coverage foundation. You probably have your preferences, and that is fine. Be sure that the foundation that you put in your makeup kit is great for any occasion. If you need help finding the right shade for you, get help from a professional at any department store.

  2. Step 2

Find a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin. When you need to cover any imperfections on your skin, use a lipstick brush to apply the concealer.

  3. Step 3

Choose a good powder. For a natural look, have a loose powder available. Pressed powder in a compact is a good idea for touch ups during the day. Typically, it is good to have one or the other, but if you have room, both of them are good to have.

  4. Step 4

Get a good eyebrow pencil. It is important to get an eyebrow pencil that is as close to your eyebrow color as possible. You should only use the pencil when your eyebrows need more definition.

  5. Step 5

Eyeliner is important. The color and texture of the pencil can vary as they can be used for different affects. Generally, you should go with a soft textured pencil. These are faster and easier to apply.

  6. Step 6

Have two good eye shadows. One of them should be a good everyday color that you will wear on all day occasions. The other should be a darker, shimmery color that is used for evenings. Because you are going to be using the same two colors, it is important that you choose the right ones.

  7. Step 7

Find the right shade of blush. The shades will vary from one person to another. You will know when you have the right shade when the blush makes you look healthier and younger. You can choose between powders, creams and gels. This is a matter of preference.

  8. Step 8

Lipstick is important and you should have two or three different colors. A good neutral color for the day is important. A fun, bold color for the evening is also necessary. Also, try to find a shade that sits somewhere in between the two. If you don't want to use brushes to apply your lipstick, that is fine. Using the lipstick straight from the tube is just as effective.

  9. Step 9

Lip liner is best used for the evenings so choose a color that is best appropriate for the evening hours. It is simply an enhancer that you will use, so do not worry about using it during the day. It can take up too much time.

  10. Step 10

Choose a great lengthening mascara. The right mascara can make your eyes look amazing. A waterproof mascara is best so that you do not have to worry about smudges and reapplication during the day.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your makeup kit down to the bare necessities. This will save space and money.
  • Get help from an expert if you are unsure of what color and type of makeup is best for you. The wrong makeup can make you look too overwhelming.
