How to Restore Headlight Lenses

Cloudy or milky headlight lenses are caused by minor scratches over time and can dull the beauty of a car. Replacing a headlight lens is extremely expensive, and while there are commercial polishes available for remedy, these can be expensive and are often too abrasive for your car's headlights.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Water
• Soap
• Sandpaper (1500 grit)
• Soft car cloth

1. Wet the headlight lens with soapy water. Make sure the water has a lot of soap in it.

2. Sand the headlight with 1500-grit sandpaper. Apply very gentle pressure. Make sure to keep the soapy water mixture on there while sanding.

3. Rinse and dry the headlight.

Tips & Warnings

• This process of restoring headlight lenses is about time, not pressure. Take your time and gently sand--you will get an almost new looking lens!
