Cloudy or milky headlight lenses are caused by minor scratches over time and can dull the beauty of a car. Replacing a headlight lens is extremely expensive, and while there are commercial polishes available for remedy, these can be expensive and are often too abrasive for your car's headlights.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Soap
  • Sandpaper (1500 grit)
  • Soft car cloth
  1. Step 1

Wet the headlight lens with soapy water. Make sure the water has a lot of soap in it.

  2. Step 2

Sand the headlight with 1500-grit sandpaper. Apply very gentle pressure. Make sure to keep the soapy water mixture on there while sanding.

  3. Step 3

    Rinse and dry the headlight.

Tips & Warnings
  • This process of restoring headlight lenses is about time, not pressure. Take your time and gently sand--you will get an almost new looking lens!
