Adjust Layer Properties in Paint Shop Pro Photo XI

Of the many innovations that newer graphic-design programs offer, the layers feature is one of the most widely used. This feature allows the user to create complex images—all with their own individual properties—inside of one image. Layers allow designers to create more intricate images with a higher amount of detail than ever before.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paint Shop Pro Photo XI
  1. Step 1

Open an image with layers that you wish to edit. Under “File” on the command bar, browse the available images and click “Okay” to open the one you want.

  2. Step 2

Access the layer palette and activate the desired layer by left-clicking on it.

  3. Step 3

Adjust the layer properties. Right-click on the layer and select "Properties"; a layers properties box will open. Under the “General” tab, you can label the layer, set the blend modes and ratios, and define the layer opacity. Click on the “Blend Ranges” tab to set the blend ranges as desired. Click the “Okay” button to implement the changes.

  4. Step 4

Save the edited image in the desired image format. Make sure to save your image by scrolling to the “File” tab on the command bar and left-clicking on “Save As.”

Tips & Warnings
  • You can set the properties on any layer that is contained within the image you are currently working on.
  • When adjusting layer properties, always check the preview window to see what the layer will look like before you implement any changes.
