Gather your supplies. Get a wooden or metal picture frame, some peg board and some pegs. For any good sized jewelry collection, you’re going to want something at least big enough to hold a small poster. If you are just going to hang your favorite jewelry, you can go smaller, like 8 by 10 inches or 11 by 14 inches. Choose a peg board the same size as the frame you’ve selected. Peg boards come in wood or metal, but make sure to find suitable pegs from the same place you’ve purchased the peg board. The number and length of the pegs all depends on how many items you want to hang on each peg.

Install the peg board into the decorative frame. If the peg board is not already the proper size to fit in your selected frame, saw it down to fit. Install the board into the frame as you would a painting or photo only do not cover the board with glass. Use a heavy-duty glue along the edges of the peg board to secure it into the frame and top it off by using duct tape around the edges for added security.

Put hooks on the frame and peg board so you can hang it on the wall. You can use two eye hooks on the sides of the frame so you can loop wire through it for hanging. This will provide more security than a single hook in the middle of the board or frame and allow the rack to move without falling when you add or remove jewelry.

Set up the top row of pegs. You can choose from a variety of pegs that attach to the rack differently. One option is a metal peg with attachments on one end that are simply slid into place through the holes on the peg board. Another type of peg is magnetic hooks or shelves, which stick magnetically to a metal board so you just plop them into place. You can also use small, screw-on pegs normally meant to hold tools. Decide on your layout and screw the pegs into place with a small screwdriver and screws. The screws usually come with the pegs, but if not, bring the peg to your local hardware store and search for the right size screw.

Get out your jewelry. Once you have the top row of pegs in place, begin hanging items onto the pegs. Put shorter items and rings along the top row. Add the next row of pegs when you see what needs hanging room and space them accordingly. Rather than waste a lot of peg board space with long, dangling necklaces, you can hang them from the bottom row of pegs so they dangle down below the frame.

Tips & Warnings
If you’d rather not have your jewelry rack in plain sight, you can always hang it in the corner hidden by a dresser or inside a closet door.
To make your jewelry rack even more decorative, you can paint the frame, peg board and even the pegs to match or contrast nicely with the decor where you’re hanging it.
Another fun idea is to install the jewelry inside an old medicine cabinet. This way you can shut the door of the cabinet if you don’t feel like looking at the jewelry.
Give jewelry plenty of room to hang, otherwise you’ll simply end up with a jumbled jewelry rack instead of a jumbled jewelry box. This will pretty much ruin the whole point of your creation.
