Key West, Florida is known as “The Keys” and offers visitors some of the most breathtaking views of the ocean. In addition to the many water sports available in Key West, vacationers will want to dedicate time to swim with the dolphins. There are only a few spots in the United States were swimming with dolphins is allowed, and Key West is one of the best.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Open your Internet browser and go to the Dolphin World Web site (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Read the Dolphin World FA page. You will want to verify that all members of your party meet the minimum requirements to participate in the dolphin encounter. Children must be at least five years old to participate in the Trained Dolphin Swim Program and three years or older for the Dolphin Encounter. If you are traveling with a child that is not your own, you will be required to bring a waiver form signed by the parent.

  3. Step 3

Compare the various options as shown on the Dolphin Swim Program page. Dolphin World offers a Trained Dolphin Swim, a Dolphin Encounter and a Wild Dolphin Encounter program. The Trained Dolphin Swim guarantees contact with the dolphins, and the Wild Dolphin Encounter meets the dolphins in their natural habitat.

  4. Step 4

Call Dolphin World at (866) 630-9868 to determine pricing and availability. Prices will vary by season and you will need to contact Dolphin World directly to determine the pricing options for your group.

  5. Step 5

Reserve your dolphin encounter after you have chosen your program and determined that the date is available.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don’t forget to bring your camera and video camera as Dolphin World allows personal cameras in the property. Since the encounters are all centered on the water, you may want to have a waterproof camera or a member of your party stay out and film.
  • Dolphin World tries to accommodate guests with disabilities and special needs.
  • Take note of the cancellation policy; cancellations must be made no later than 14 days before your reservation date, and if you cancel after that period, you will be penalized with a 10 percent service charge.
  • Be prepared for any weather, as all Dolphin World encounters will occur whether it is raining or you’re bathed in the Florida sunshine.
