How to Draw Sports Cars
Drawing sports cars is a fun and entertaining thing to do because you can make any type of car come to life. It takes a lot of skill to do this, but if you learn a few basic shapes, and the general way a sports car looks (what makes it a sports car), your drawings will be much better.A sports car has two main features: It is low to the ground, and has very low wind resistance. All the lines are very fluid, the hood is angular, and passenger section has a very small, tight cab. The rear also scoops up into the air, to help press the nose to the ground at high speeds.

How to Draw Sports Cars
-
1
Draw a perfect oval in the center of your page, your entire car will fit in this oval.
-
2
Sketch in light lines to determine the top of the hood, the front of the grill, the middle of the wheels and the rear of the car. Make sure the proportions are correct. When you are satisfied move on to the next step.
-
3
Lightly sketch in the passenger section. Draw the windshield, which is a rectangle with two slanted sides. Then sketch in the doors. Use blockish rectangles for now, and don't worry how they look. As you develop the drawing, you will refine these shapes. For now, just be sure the proportions are correct.
-
4
Add the wheels. The wheels that are closest to you will be wide ovals, not perfect circles. The wheel farthest away from you will be a narrow oval, and smaller.
-
5
Define the grill of the car, adding headlights and horizontal lines for the grill cage. The front line of the hood usually cuts between the two headlights and is a simple arc that flows right above the wheels to define the side of the car. You can start to erase your oval, and add cross hatching to establish the ground underneath the car.
-
6
Go back to the passenger section and finish the doors. Now that you know where the wheels are and have them established, the doors will come more naturally. Draw them so they cut around the wheels at the corners, just draw an arc where the corner of your rectangle was, then erase the corner.
-
7
Finish the drawing by adding light to the wind shield, handles, and trunk and hood lines you did not establish before. Your sports car should be taking shape!
-
8
Draw the spoiler, if any. This could be a simple lip that goes around the top rim of the rear trunk, or a more elaborate fish tail spoiler. This will be drawn with a simple crescent shape, like the bottom part of a circle. Add a cup or lip on the end for a dramatic look, and your car is done.

Tips & Warnings
Keep the proportions of your sports car in mind when establishing the first parts of your car. This makes it look more realistic. Remember the longest part is the hood, and the passenger and trunk combined, is usually just as long as the hood. The wheels have flares over them in most cases, and the hood always dips down slightly for an aerodynamic look.
