Things You'll Need:

  • Lanolin or outdoor skin conditioner
  1. Step 1

Decide you want to do something about the problem. Ninety percent of the cure is in your decision to implement a remedy. Very little is required to solve the problem, but you have to do it religiously everyday for a month or more. The strategy is to seal the skin from the outside so it can heal from the inside.

  2. Step 2

Start looking for a product that is somewhat difficult to find. Outdoor skin conditioner such as the Armor brand can be found in some garden stores. If you can’t find it anywhere, you can try to use lanolin, but the former is more dependable and easier to use.

  3. Step 3

Apply the conditioner (or lanolin) liberally to the affected spot on your feet after every bath or shower on a daily basis. If using the skin conditioner, you have to allow it to dry before walking on it or pulling on a sock. Allow about five minutes. If using lanolin, you need to allow a lot more time to dry and you will need to massage it into the skin more thoroughly (also it makes more of a mess).

  4. Step 4

Reapply daily until the problem goes away, which is about a month normally, but can take longer depending on the severity of the problem and the length of time it has been present.

Tips & Warnings
  • Soak your feet in warm water laced with Epsom salts once a day to accelerate the process. The problem stems from dryness, confinement and poor circulation.
  • Don’t be surprised that you suddenly forget the therapy, especially if you are getting good results and the pain goes away.

on 8/1/2008 You can also make the calendula ointment I have written about. It is amazing for cracked and dried out feet. As winter approaches the problem can become worse. Thanks for the instructions.
