How to Download & Burn Movies on DVD

When you download and burn movies on DVD you can view them on your computer or even in your home theater system. It is a fabulous method for viewing movies before you purchase them. Anything you wish to obtain can be at your fingertips. Even rare movies can be found throughout the internet so you can download and burn them on DVD. In a few simple steps, you will learn where to get your movies and how to burn them on DVD to play in any DVD player.

Download Movies

Step1
Decide on the type of movies that you wish to download. Rare DVDs may be more difficult to come by while blockbuster hits are easy to find. If you search online for your favorite movie, you may be able to download it right away. This is especially true with movies that are public domain or no longer under copyright.
Step2
Use a peer to peer interface. There are several programs that you may wish to download to help you find the movies you want to burn to DVD. Torrent files are a simple way to search for exactly what movie you are looking for. You will need uTorrent to download movies from torrent files. The Pirate Bay and mininova are two locations where you can download the movie you want from peer to peer support. Lime Wire is another peer to peer application that can assist you in finding movies, music and programs.
Step3
Download movies from websites. There are several locations that you can use to download DVD movies then burn them to DVD. Movie2B is a pay library of DVDs. You can find blockbuster hits as well as classic movies. The prices are fairly low and all you need is a credit card and to sign up for a free account. The Internet Archive is a great place to find free movies. They have old classic videos as well as some modern hits.

Burn Movies on DVD

Step1
Open the Nero 8 program. Go to the start menu, all programs section and open Nero 8 then Nero Burning Rom. You can download a trial version for free and you can buy a copy.
Step2
A popup window will appear. In the upper left hand corner you will see, "New Compilation". On the left hand side several options are available.
Step3
Choose "miniDVD." A window will appear with options you may or may not wish to change. The options that are preset are what you should use if you are a novice at Nero 8.
Step4
Click, "New." You will see yet another window. On the right hand side is a browser popup of the files on your computer.
Step5
Find the movie you wish to burn to DVD and click on it. The video will be copied to the left hand side.
Step6
Click burn on the toolbar at the top of the program. Depending on the speed of your computer, this should take between 15 minutes to an hour. Don't remove the DVD until the program has completed.
Step7
Check the movie out on your DVD player and computer. It should now play the full movie directly from your PC screen or your TV.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is illegal to download a movie that you have not paid for unless you already own a copy of the movie. Websites that are a pay per download or monthly membership are legal to download and burn from.
  • Peer to Peer sites and programs can be dangerous. Never open a file from anywhere until you have scanned it for viruses.
  • Before you give your credit card number online, check the company for a scam. Even though, most businesses are legit, there are still some that will take your money.
