Add sweet onions as the layer above the salsa. Then sprinkle the red and yellow sweet peppers over the onions.

  5. Step 5

Place a layer of shredded lettuce over the sweet pepper layer. Sprinkle the reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese over the lettuce.

  6. Step 6

Refrigerate the dip for at least an hour to allow the flavors some time to blend together. Serve with nacho chips.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are many variations for this recipe, for instance you can add some taco seasoning to the cream cheese mixture.
  • Add a can of lean chili as a layer to the dip for more of a meal type dip.
  • You can even add a layer of fat free refried beans to the dip above the cream cheese layer.
  • Nacho dip means a cheese dip, however you can leave out almost all fat by just having a layered dip from the salsa up, omitting the cream cheese layer altogether.
  • You can also add a large dollop of low fat sour cream to the very top middle of the finished dip.
  • Nacho chips go best with this dip, but you can also use dipping vegetables such as celery, carrot sticks, green onions, broccoli florets and cauliflower.
  • You can make it more colorful by adding sliced black olives and diced tomatoes to the top.
