How to Acquire the Excalibur Sword in Final Fantasy 4
The mythical Excalibur sword appears many times in the Final Fantasy game series and is the strongest weapon you can acquire in Final Fantasy 4 to equip the main character, Cecil. Finding the components needed for the sword and convincing a master smith to forge it is a quest all on its own that will take a good deal of searching and travel.

Finish the major quests of the game that occur before the party finds the pathway to the moon. Make sure you have finished the "Sealed Cave" area and that Cid has modified your airship so that it has a large drill attached.

Take a trip in the airship around the underworld until you find the cave where all of the summoned monsters reside. It's located on the left side of the underworld on an island in the center of a patch of lava. Land the airship on the island and enter the cave.

Walk through the cave until you find the town filled with monsters. Open all of the treasure chests in the town until you find one that contains a "Rat Tail" item.

Leave the town and go back out of the cave the same way you came in. Get back in the airship and use the drill to open a passage back to the regular overland map. You can't use your current airship to get to your next destination, so locate the old airship, board it and use it's hook to grab the hovercraft from wherever you last left it.

Drop the hovercraft off by the town called Silvera and exit the airship. Hop into the hovercraft and travel across the shallow water area until you reach a cave that you can enter. Talk to the man inside the cave and he will give some Adamantine Ore in exchange for the Rat Tail.

Return to the underworld and fly to the house located in the southeast corner. Land the ship and enter the house. Go up the set of stairs and speak with the master blacksmith. He will take the Adamantine Ore from your party and tell you to return later for the completed Excalibur sword.

Complete a few other quests while waiting for the blacksmith to finish the sword, such as traveling to the city Baron to get the Odin summon spell or searching through the fairy's cave to get the Sylph summon spell. After you have completed a few quests, go back to the blacksmith's house and speak with him to receive the Excalibur sword.
