How to Make a Cork Framed Menu Board

Do you collect wine bottles and cork? Are you looking for a use for the extra corks you have lying around the house? By creating a cork framed menu board out of recycled corks and a chalkboard, you can keep your love for cork and wine alive and have a handy reminder on hand to keep you on track with your food menus for the week. This lovely cork framed menu board is not only practical it is also a lovely decorative piece to your kitchen or dining room area.

Things You'll Need

• 10 to 20 large sized corks
• Small chalkboard
• 2 triangular hooks
• Nails
• Hammer
• Small ruler
• Pencil
• Xacto knife
• Cutting board
• Hot glue gun
• Glue stick
• Washcloth
• Chalk

Instructions

1. Take your hammer and nails and install two triangular hooks into the back of the chalkboard.

2. Find a location on your wall where you want to hang your cork framed menu board.

3. Take your ruler and measure the exact inches between the triangular hooks.

4. Take your ruler and mark lightly with a pencil on the wall where you will need to place the nails.

5. Hammer two nails into the wall to hang your cork framed menu board.

6. Wipe all corks down with a damp cloth and allow to dry completely.

7. 

   On your cutting board, take your Xacto Knife and cut each cork in half.

8. 

   Take your small chalkboard and wipe it free of dirt, chalk, dust and debris.

9. 

   Heat your hot glue gun and insert a glue stick.

10. Take each cork piece and apply hot glue to the flat side of the cork.

11. Apply each cork piece glue side down and in a horizontal pattern against the trim of the chalk board.

12. Press each cork down firmly.

13. Allow the corks to adhere to the chalkboard for two hours.

14. Hang your cork framed menu board in your desired location.

15. With your chalk, write out the menu for the day.

• Use caution when using a hot glue gun as it can burn your skin.
