Instructions

    • 1

Place roll of foam on a large flat surface. Put double-sided tape on the edge of the first two corners and stick them to the surface. Unroll the rest of the foam and then affix double-sided tape on the other two corners. The piece of foam is now stuck to the surface.

    • 2

Place a cookie cutter on the foam. With the permanent marker, trace the outer edge all the way around and remove the cutter. You now have an outline of the "creature" that is the cutter. If the cutter is not hollow, push very hard and you will also imprint the foam with that pattern.

    • 3

Take the razor blade and carefully cut the outline out.

    • 4

Place super glue on the back of the "rolly" eyes. Push the eyes onto the foam, and apply pressure for a count of 30.

    • 5

Use the die if you want to add specific features. If the cutters you used are not hollow, trace the inner design onto the foam with the die. Let set overnight, and you are ready for bath time.

Tips & Warnings

  • If there is no craft store near you, many florists and packers have large amounts of foam to use.

  • Another great place to get foam is medical supply stores.

  • Foam does not cut like paper. Cut with back and forth slices in one spot till you cut completely through.

  • Put as many cookie cutters on the foam as you are planning to use. This will show where the cutters will be place.

  • Trace all of your cutters before cutting.

  • If you are going to have some waste, try to make it a long, skinny piece with curves. This will do nicely to make a snake.

  • Let the kids help putting on the eyes or decorating with dice.

  • The kids can also help placing the cutters onto the foam.

  • Be very careful--you will be using a very sharp instrument on a material that does not cut very easily.

  • Do not get super glue on your skin.

  • Do not use hot glue, as it will come off in water.
