Tired of crunchy or mushy rice? Want to learn how to make fluffy rice on the stovetop? If so then read on...

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 6 cups of water
  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  1. Step 1

In a large pot, bring to a boil 6 cups of water, 1 tbs. cooking oil and 1 tsp. salt. Add 1 cup of long grain rice.

  2. Step 2

Cook on low or slow simmer for 15 minutes, stirring often. (I know you were taught not to stir the rice, but stirring the rice will not affect the outcome. The rice won't stick to the bottom of the pot).

  3. Step 3

Remove from the stove top, turn off the burner.

Drain the rice into a colander over the sink ad rinse under the faucet with warm water. The warm water will actually slow down cooking process.

  4. Step 4

Spoon the cooked rice onto a plate or platter and drizzle with a little olive oil and serve.

  5. Step 5

Refrigerate any leftovers in a sealed container and serve again at another meal, or even the next day.
Your rice will stay fluffy hot or cold.
