This article will demonstrate how to make a rock necklace.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • small rocks
  • colored wire
  • scissors
  • pen or pencil
  • needle-nosed pliers
  • colored string, leather cord, or yarn
  1. Step 1

Cut the wire to 15 inches long with the scissors (use 22 gauge wire!)

  2. Step 2

Place the rock in the center of the wire and wrap the wire around it a few times. Be sure to vary the wire around the rock -- don't wrap it around the same spot!!!

  3. Step 3

Twist the ends of the wire together to secure the rock. Use the pen or pencil to twist the wire to make a loop at the top.

  4. Step 4

Use the pliers to close the loop and cut off any excess wire.

  5. Step 5

Cut a 20-24 inch length of string, leather or yarn for the necklace and loop it through the wire. Tie the ends to make the necklace!

Tips & Warnings
  • Use colorful rocks from a nature store.
  • Take a hike and collect interesting rocks.
  • Use a seashell or coral from the beach as your rock!
  • Have an adult use the pliers, wire and scissors!
