How to Cure Fingernail Fungus

Fingernail fungus is unsightly and often painful. What typically begins as a small white or yellow spot beneath a fingernail turns into a deep fungal infection that causes nails to thicken, discolor and crumble around the edges.

Cure fingernail fungus with a vinegar solution. Vinegar prevents some bacteria from growing. Measure and mix one cup of vinegar and two cups of water in a bowl. Place your hands in the vinegar and water solution for 20 minutes. Rinse your hands in water and dry them. Repeat the process as needed or until you notice results.

Use over-the-counter topical ointments to cure fingernail fungus. The ointment needs to contain one of the active ingredients itraconazole, fluconazole or terbinafine. Apply the product according to the package instructions for six to 12 weeks. See your doctor if the symptoms get worse or do not go away.
