Tent going up
Tent going up
I took all pictures and to my big crazy wonderful family I love you!

Camping is so much fun and doing a family campout is awesome.
Have you ever tried to get your whole family including your Parents, Sisters and Brothers, kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews to all go on a family campout? We have a large family and we do it! It can be great. It is a lot of hard work and planning but totally worth it. You really need to give it a try. Get your family out of their comfort zone and go.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Big Family
  • Campsite of choice
  • Tent/RV
  • bedding
  • camping gear
  • lots of good munchies
  • lots of drinking water
  • firewood
  • cooking tripod
  • aluminum foil
  • plates, cups and silverware
  1. Step 1
    Setting up a tent

    Setting up a tent

Set up your campsite whether you still do tents like I do or an RV; it doesn't matter. Just plan on enjoying yourself

  2. Step 2
    Unloading car

Carry in all your things from the car and into the tent. You'll need blow up beds, pillows, blankets, flashlight and lots of munchies.

  3. Step 3
    Enjoy the fire

    Enjoy the fire

At the end of day 1 and all the hard work of setting up camp relax in front of a nice campfire and enjoy sunset.

  4. Step 4
    Cooking over a fire

Day 2 Get a cup of Coffee and start planning some events. You'll need to build a nice fire for cooking.

  5. Step 5
    Enjoying a meal

Set down to enjoy meal together

  6. Step 6
    Squirt gun being filled

Kids are ready for fun. Filling squirt guns will do for a start.

  7. Step 7
    Ready to go fishin'

    Ready to go fishin'

The kids enjoy doing a little fishin' and you can too. Or maybe you'd all rather just take a dip in the water.

  8. Step 8
    Putt Putt anyone

Enjoy a round of Putt Putt you can unwind and be a kid no one cares. Have Fun!

  9. Step 9
    Learning how to golf

    Learning how to golf

Get your Great Uncle to give you instructions on hitting a Golf ball. Hitting those little balls can be a real stress reliever too.

  10. Step 10
    Cornhole game

    Cornhole game

Play a little Cornhole, again throwing bean bags is great fun. Sometimes it takes a little practice to hit that hole.

  11. Step 11
    Roasting marshmallows

    Roasting marshmallows

Roasting marshmallows for smores is always a great time. If you've never had one try one the next time you build a fire. It's graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate bar and peanut butter is optional. They are fattening but so good.

  12. Step 12
    Introducing cousins

    Introducing cousins

Family Camp is also a good time to get new cousins together for the first time.

  13. Step 13
    Family Pic

    Family Pic

Try to get as many of your family members together to get a big picture. This is a real challenge but rewarding when you pull it all off. Color co-ordinate your families so you can tell who each other are years from now. Trust me, you might not recognize yourself or your grandkids a few years from now.

  14. Step 14
    Mom

    Mom

If you're like us we try to incorporate our annual family campout with Mom's Birthday. You can't have too much family time. Find your own special date to get away.

  15. Step 15

Go home unpack and plan on hitting the gym on Monday as you know you've eaten way too much while having all this fun!

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure and take more than you might think you'll need because I'm sure someone in your family will forget theirs :+)

on 6/11/2009 I really like all these steps - esp. incorporating other birthdays/events with the family campout. It will also give us something extra to do and plan. Thanks!
