Use a Sony DSC-P52 Cyber-Shot Camera

The Sony CyberShot DSC-P52 camera is no longer for sale, but you may be able to find a used camera online. If you have a Sony CyberShot DSC-P52 camera or just purchased a used one, learn how to use it before taking it out for a test one. The camera works almost the same as other CyberShot cameras, so familiarity with another CyberShot camera will help when using this model.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug in your battery charger, load the rechargeable battery and wait for it to charge up. When the "charge" lamp turns off, the battery is charged.

    • 2

Insert the charged battery into the door on the left-hand side of the camera. The polarity is marked on the inside of the case. If you want to save battery life, you can also plug your camera into an AC-adapter, the plug that is located on the right-hand side of the camera.

    • 3

Insert a memory stick by opening the door on the bottom-left of the camera. Open the door and slide the thin memory stick all the way in. To remove the stick once you're done taking pictures, push lightly on the stick and it will pop out.

    • 4

Set the image size using the "mode selector" wheel -- the smaller wheel directly next to the viewfinder of the camera, in the back. Set it to the camera icon, then press it to turn it on. Select "image size." If you are shooting pictures for a website, select a smaller image size. If you are shooting pictures that you want to print, then choose a much larger size.

    • 5

Shoot a picture in Auto Mode. Set the mode selector wheel to the camera icon, and point the camera at whatever you'd like to photograph, keeping your subject in the approximate center of the picture. Press and hold the shutter down halfway; this will autofocus your camera lens. Push the shutter all the way down to take the picture.

    • 6

Zoom in on a subject while shooting it by using the zoom buttons on the top-right on the back of the camera. The buttons are marked "W" for wide angle and "T" for telephoto.

    • 7

View your picture. Look to the larger wheel and press the left pointing arrow. This will show you the last picture you took. If you don't like it, press the garbage can icon to delete it.

Tips & Warnings
