grocery shop on a budget

When you have to budget your bills every month and then have to budget your food, it seems a little overwhelming sometimes. Here are a few tricks to help get more groceries for your buck.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A grocery list
  1. Step 1

First step, go through your house and figure out what you will need to pick up at the grocery store. After you make your list try to estimate how much each item will cost so you can bring enough money with you. A good tip to remember is to stick with your list, do not buy anything else no matter how tempting.
It seems that every week in the newspapers they send out advertisements usually on wednesday's and sunday's, that is a good way to scope out stores that are having good sales. Then hit those sales when you are shopping.

  2. Step 2

Don't be afraid to clip coupons, yeah sure it may only save you thirty five cents but if you add how many coupons you may be using it could save you up to ten dollars sometimes, which means more money in your pocket.

  3. Step 3

When you shop try comparing name brand to generic brand and you will usually find that generic brands have the same ingredients, but are half the price of the other guys, and for the most part taste just like the name brands. Before you go shopping plan out a meal for each day you dont nessecerly have to eat it on that day but you will know you have more than enough food until the next shopping trip. Oh and one last idea if you happen to be married to a man DO NOT BRING HIM WITH YOU TO THE STORE!!!! They want more junk than the kids lol.
