How to Sort Column Data in Excel

Here is how you can sort data in a column in Excel.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Excel

1. Open up excel

2. 
   Data

   In column A type in row 1 a column header and then underneath the column header type in some numbers as shown in the picture.

3. 
   Highlighted Data

   Highlight Column A, as shown in picture, by clicking on the Column header labeled "A" not the column header you typed in.

4. 
   Ascending/Descending buttons

   Click the sort Ascending or descing buttons, as pictured, depending on how you want the data sorted.

5. 
   Data Ascending

   If you clicked on the data ascending button your results should be similar to what is show in the picture.

Tips & Warnings

• Instead of the toolbar buttons you can also click on menu item Data->Sort
